RV & Boat Storage Buildings and Steel Carports

An RV or boat building keeps sun, hail and humidity off your investment. We build fully enclosed RV garages with 14 ft+ doors, open-sided covers and multi-bay carports, all engineered for Houston wind loads and sized around what you store.

Who it’s for

Who is a steel RV or boat building right for?

  • RV owners

Class A, Class C and fifth-wheel owners who are done paying for storage lots and want the rig at home.

  • Boat owners

Bay boats, center consoles and wake boats with towers, stored out of the sun and ready to hitch.

  • Multi-vehicle households

Open carports and covered parking for trucks, trailers and side-by-sides.

  • Storage businesses

Investors building covered or enclosed RV and boat storage facilities.

Common sizes

What size RV or boat building do I need?

Bay depth and door height come from your vehicle’s actual length and height, including AC units and towers.
  • 18 × 40

    720 sq ft

    Single-bay boat or travel-trailer cover

  • 24 × 50

    1,200 sq ft

Enclosed garage for one Class A motorhome

  • 40 × 50

    2,000 sq ft

RV bay plus a two-car garage and workbench

  • 60 × 100

    6,000 sq ft

Multi-bay covered storage for a small facility

Popular options

What options can I add?

  • Tall roll-up doors

12–14 ft wide and 14 ft tall doors are typical for motorhomes. Check your rig’s height with AC units.

  • Open or enclosed

Open-sided covers are economical. Enclosed buildings add security and keep out blowing rain.

  • Partial walls

Gable-end or sidewall panels on an open cover for weather protection without full enclosure.

  • Drive-through bays

Doors on both endwalls so you never back a trailer in.

  • Lighting & power

30/50-amp RV pedestals and LED lighting coordinated with your electrician.

  • Ridge vents

Ventilation to reduce heat and condensation on stored vehicles.

  • Insulation

Recommended for enclosed buildings to prevent condensation dripping on finishes.

Pricing

What affects the cost of a RV or boat building?

Eave height
Tall eaves for 14 ft doors add column length and wall panels.
Enclosed vs. open
Full walls and doors cost more than an open cover of the same footprint.
Door count and size
Large doors are expensive. Drive-through bays need two.
Slab or gravel
A full slab costs more than piers with a gravel floor. Both are engineered.
Number of bays
Multi-bay buildings spread the cost of endwalls across more storage.
HOA requirements
Matching colors, wainscot or masonry can add cost in deed-restricted areas.

How tall does an RV garage need to be?

Most Class A motorhomes are 12.5–13.5 ft tall including roof AC units, so a 14 ft tall door is the safe standard. That means a 16 ft eave or more once you allow for the door header. Measure your rig, not the brochure, and add a margin for antennas and ladders.

Will my HOA allow an RV building?

Many deed-restricted neighborhoods limit height or require the building to match the house. We provide drawings and color options for your HOA submittal. On acreage in areas like Hockley or Waller, restrictions are often lighter.

FAQ

RV & Boat Storage / Carports questions

What size building do I need for a 40 ft motorhome?

Plan on a bay at least 48–50 ft deep and 14 ft wide, with a 14 ft tall door. A 24x50 enclosed building is a common starting point.

Is an open carport or enclosed garage better in Houston?

Open covers block sun and hail at lower cost. Enclosed buildings add security and keep out wind-driven rain. Many owners choose an open cover with a gable-end wall facing the prevailing weather.

Do I need a slab for an RV cover?

Not always. Open covers can sit on engineered piers with a gravel floor. Enclosed buildings usually get a slab. We recommend the foundation that fits your use and soil.

Can you build covered storage for a boat with a tower?

Yes. Give us the height with the tower up and the trailer, and we will size the door and eave to fit.
